Three Shops, Three Stops!

November 17th - November 19 join The Coutnry Store in Monroe, Connelly's Foral and Gifts in Genoa and Floral Occasions in Fullerton for a unique shopping experience! All three store will be having their Christmas Open house starting Friday and going through Sunday. Friday we will be open until 8pm for a fun evening outing! Stop in each shop for drawings, refreshments and lots of in store specials to brighten your home for the holidays or to pick up a special one of a kind gift for someone special on your list!

The Country Store will be having a special promotion all through the Christmas Season beginning at the open house on November 17. For every $25.00 purchase your name will go into a drawing for a fully decorated 7 foot Christmas tree. The tree will be drawn for on December 20th at 4pm. Be sure to get entered for this special tree!

Other store happening to mark on your calendar: November 24th, Early Shopper Sale! 20-30% off storewide, 6am-10am ; November 26 Christmas Store Hours begin. We will be open on sundays during the season for your shopping convenience.; December 3rd, Scotus Craft Show. The Country Store will have a booth at the Scotus Craft Show, be sure to attend! Fall Open House Drawing Winners!

The fall open house was a complete success! It was so nice to see so many of you and to share cidar and bars with you. The day the open house started I received a shipment of 26 boxes! A lot were Christmas but some was Halloween/fall. I didn't get most of it unpacked until late Saturday afternoon, so many of you may have missed some of the really fun Halloween decor that came in. There is still plenty time to stop in before Halloween to view the new decor! Winifred the Witch & Juggling Jack are among my favorites.

We drew winners for our giveawways and they are:  (If you see your name, stop in to pick up your gift! Winners will be called!) Party Menu

Planning a backyard party? Here are some great end of summer party ideas your your next party. Whether you are going small or big, these menu ideas will be a huge hit with your guests.

• BBQ'd Chicken Legs
• BBQ'd Pork Medallions
• Potato Salad
• Fresh Watermelon Fresh Grapes, Breadsticks.

The chicken legs and pork can be prepared and baked ahead of time. Simply line a baking dish with the chicken legs and pour bbq sauce right over the chicken legs, add a small amount of water to the baking dish to assure moist, tender chicken. Cover with foil and bake in your over at 325 for about an hour and half. The same with the pork. Slice pork loin into thin slices, layer bottom of baking dish. Pour bbq sauce over the pork, adding water to the pan as well. Cover with foil and bake along with the chicken legs. Check often to be sure there is still water in the pan. You may need to add water during baking. For the potato salad a very simple salad is always best, as your guests will have varied tastes. The following recipe is mild and very tasty. Boil potatoes, drain and cool. The amount you cook will depend upon the amount of guests. For a medium bowl, cook about 8 russet potatoes. While the potatoes are cooking, boil eggs. You will need about 6 eggs for this size. After both the potatoes and eggs are cooled, peel both and dice into a medium sized bowl. Add mayonaise (not Miracle Whip or salad dressing) to the desired consistency. It may take a little more than a cup. Now add about two tablespoons of mustard. Salt and pepper and add a few shakes of the onion flakes. Stir this all together and refrigerate. If you want, you can boil 8 eggs, saving two to garnish with. Simply slice the eggs with an egg slicer and layer the top of your salad. Sprinkle a small amount of paprika and you have a delicious salad to be proud of. Even if you don't normally make salads, this is an easy to make recipe that will recieve great reviews! Slice your watermelon into managable pieces and add small grape clusters. Finally, complete your meal with breadsticks. Bakeries have wonderful flavors of breadsticks. Find a fun basket, line it with a cloth napkin and add the breadsticks. What a great and simple meal to serve at your next gathering! Flavored ice tea will compliment this meal. Forego the pop, the kids don't need all the sugar! Make smoothies for the kiddies at your party! Get out your blender, add one can of concentrated frozen orange juice, one package of frozen whole strawberries, and four large scoops of vanilla ice cream, use milk to thin the mix as needed. Oh this is good.

Going New Places!

The Country Store has added merchandise to the gift counter at The New World Inn Conference Center in Columbus. We are also working with the New World Inn to offer wedding reception decorations/floral rentals to couples having their reception in the beautiful courtyard at the New World Inn. Book Review

the five people you meet in heaven by Mitch Albom.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who is considering starting a Faithbooking journal/ and or scrapbook. It tells the story of a man who's life ends due to an accident and how his life is explained to him when he enters heaven. Why did this happen and why didn't that happen. Hey friends welcome to The Country Store! My name is Tammy and I own The Country Store in Monroe, Nebraska. My store is small, like the town, but we have people come from miles around for all the unique gifts and sevices we provide!

Scrapbooking! We have one of the largest selections of scrapbook supplies in the surrounding area. There are over 1200 different 12x12 patterned papers from companies like All My Memories, Reminiece, Be Blessed, K and Co, and so many more! There is always new items added so stop in to check us out!  Recently we started a new group called Faithbooking. The group will meet once a month. We meet next on September 5th at 7pm. We will have a devotional about fall. "He has made everything beautiful in its' time" Ecclesiestes 3:11 I hope you will consider joining our group. There is no charge for the group and you don't have to be an avid scrapbooker to join. Other than the group, we have open cropping anytime the store is open and in the evenings by appointment, and also we are open on Wednesday nights. After basketball season we will again be open on Friday nights. Look for more info on classes and special groups!

Tearoom! Oh yes, there is a tearoom here and we serve delicious meals in a very unique atmosphere. We take reservations for both small and larger groups. (A group is three or more) The menu will be posted for your convenience. Just email me or call me with your reservations. Consider reserving your holiday party early as spaces are beginning to fill up. Call us at 402-495-3055. Also we are serving daily deli lunches in the tearoom. These lunches include a large deli sandwich, chips, bar or cookie, pickle and Ice Tea or Coffee. You get all this for $4.74 (plus tax is $5.00) No reservation is needed, come in as your are!

Gift shop: There is so much going on daily at our gift shop that I can't possibly begin to put it all down. Soon we will have our Fall Open House, September 15-17! Look for more information on this coming soon! Also, pay attention, we will begin a Christmas Tree Giveaway promotion! Look for details to come soon! The tree will be completely decorated, ready to setup in your home! We carry a large selection of home giftware as well as inspirational gifts, baby gifts, gifts for men, Americana, and all the current home decorating trends can be found here. We offer many services, such as gift wrap, silk floral delivery, bridal registry, Christmas registry (great for those husbands who don't know what their wife wants!) We recently added a greeting card line and will continue to bring to you many conveniences for your needs.

Wedding Services: We provide wedding services for receptions. Decoratations as well as the floral bouquets, corsages, and more! All florals are silk, your bridal bouquet will be made lovingly for you and will last a lifetime so that you can display it. There is table decor as well as arches and so much more! Stop in or call for more details!
